Bioré Baking Soda

Bioré Baking Soda

About a month ago, Influenster lovingly, thoughtfully, graciously sent me these products (I'm grateful, can you tell?). I've been trying them out for long enough now that I feel I have a well-rounded opinion on them. There is the Bioré Baking Soda Pore Cleanser and the Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub. Let me just point out how hardcore the packaging is, solid like a brick wall, so heavy duty that the army could use it mid-battlefield.

This is their new Baking Soda line. The idea is, "how clean can we make your pores?" Hella clean. I have wacky skin, it's dry, oily, sensitive, acne-prone, red, just everything out there. I like to use the cleanser every other day, because it's extremely cleaning, which is great for the oily aspect of my skin but doesn't coincide well with the dryness. Using it makes my skin feel so clean, like it's been reborn. I always follow it with at least a nice moisturizer, but ideally, a serum, eye cream, moisturizer. It has a baking soda smell, and has these little beads in the product. I've said in the past that I am not a fan of those types of cleansers which seem to do next to nothing to clean the skin because they're so gentle (like the Fresh cleanser, or the Aveeno one), you tend to leave with a fresh scent in your nose but your skin is in the next-to same cleanliness state as before. No fears with this one however, it cleans the heck out of your skin. So that's my word of caution: for those with extremely sensitive skin, you can't handle this cleaning action. The funny thing about this cleanser is that I find it more scrubbing than the scrub.

As for the scrub... WOW. Favourite scrub I've used. It comes in a powder, and you add water to it, so you control the consistency. You can make it either like a paste, or add more water to make it closer to a foam. It's so gentle and lovely feeling. I like to make this in between a foam and a paste, for the forehead and cheeks, and a straight-up paste for my nose. It has the same smell as the cleanser, but it's somehow so much more gentle. For this one, I'd say all skin types are welcome. Of course the baking soda is geared towards oily skin, but all skin types could use this and follow up with a nice, non-pore clogging moisturizer. Such smooth skin, a beautiful experience.
